STUDENT REQUIREMENTS:
What to bring:
• Clothing must be clean, neat and comfortable. As we will be visiting various other professional establishments, students will be required to wear slim-fitting jeans, trousers or slacks with a shirt, jumper or flying jacket.
• Students will be issued with a Flightcamp t-shirt, which they will wear on all excursions off-site.
• No loose, baggy "homey" pants will be permitted for safety reasons. Pants must not be scrunched up around the ankle or extend down past where the heel of the shoe meets its sole, nor is the crutch to be more than 10% below the actual crutch as this will impede safe movement around the aircraft.
• Sufficient changes of underwear for 5 days.
• Shoes with slippery soles or large heels are not to be worn. Closed in shoes are to be worn when flying.
• Pyjamas and swimsuits.
• Sleeping Bag or Doona (clean sheets are provided)
• Pillow
• 3 Towels and toiletries
Note 1. Students who are attending a camp other than the Introductory camp are asked to bring their theory notes and texts from previous Flightcamps. DON’T FORGET A PEN AND PAPER!!
Note 2. Please do not bring portable stereos, walkmans, mp3 players, computers, mobile phones or any other electronic devices whatsoever!!!! to Flightcamp (if you need the phone en route, then it is to be handed over to staff on arrival for safe keeping and collected on departure). If students need to ring parents during the camp they are to ask staff for the use of the phone. Note 3. No smoking, alcohol or drugs (other than prescribed medication) will be allowed under any circumstances. Please discuss this with the school co-ordinator, Wendy Dow
Note 4. Advanced or Solo camp students are required to have applied for a Student Pilot License and have completed a medical at least 4 weeks prior to attending the camp. Students are required to have been issued with a Student Pilot License prior to going solo. Please speak to an instructor for guidance.
Arrival:
• It is requested that you arrive between 4 -5pm on the Sunday.
Departure:
• Students can not be collected before 5pm unless otherwise organised.
Transportation:
• Students requiring transportation on arrival or departure to or from any of Melbourne’s Airports, bus or train stations may arrange transportation through the school.
• Times allocated for the “pick up & drop off” service are 8am – 6pm daily. Requirements outside these times ARE NOT AVAILABLE. Visit www.airportshuttlebus.com.au for transport to and from Melbourne airport.
Accommodation:
• Students will be housed at the flying school in the adjoining accommodation block.
Supervision:
• Students will be under the direct supervision of either the school coordinator, Mrs. Wendy Dow, Chief Flying Instructor, Peter Dow, or instructing staff on duty for Flightcamp.
Meals:
• Breakfast - Cereal, toast, fruit, eggs, bacon, juice, milk, milo, tea and coffee. • Lunch - Sandwiches and rolls, cold meats, salads, soup, pastries and fruit.
• Dinner - Grills and salads, roasts and vegetables.
• Extra fruit, juice, milo, milk, tea and coffee are freely available. • Cans of soft drink and snack foods available for purchase.
